ROAR! Dinos at the Wilderness in Wisconsin Dells

Sorry this layout is so messed up. I didn't want to start over. We went to the Lost World section of the Wilderness this past weekend and Julia, Allison and Jerod enjoyed the kids dino section. You can see above Julia and Allison in the dino egg pretending to be baby dinos squacking for attention. Jerod and Julia loved to stand under the big bucket of water when it dumped it's load. Allison loved to watch but did NOT want it to fall on her. Luckily the bell dings when it get's close to spilling. Allison also liked going down the slide, but enjoyed sitting at the top of the volcano just as much.

T-Ball

The T-Ball season has begun! Julia is on the Cubs team and has already had 2 practices and 2 games. She has had the chance to play each of bases as well as outfield positions. She waits in the "ready" position very well while the other team is batting. Sometimes she is caught off guard because she is too busy chatting with the base coaches or the other players, but she is getting better at catching the ball and throwing it. She likes to bat and is improving in that area as well. Allison watches the game and cheers for her sister. Once she even made a run for Julia when she was up to bat but Mommy was quick to catch her.

Baby work

Allison found some important baby work to do this evening. First, she wanted to wear a bandana on her head. She thought that was really fun. Then she set to work getting coins from the big jug Jerod keeps in the bedroom and putting them on the bed. She would get a handful, put them up there and then say "Thank you" and go get some more. Then she discovered that she could also line them up on the baseboard of the bed. That was very fun too! The really amazing thing was that when she was done playing she put them all back.

Dancing Superfreak!

Allison loves to dance! She especially loves the cards that play music because she can control when and how long they play. The card she uses here was for Grandma's birthday, but she decided it was just too good to dance to so she had to hang on to it herself.

Julia turns 7!

Julia had a terrific seventh birthday! She invited over friends for some games, cake and ice cream. They had a pretty wild time, but it sure was fun.

Valentine's Portrait

A decent picture of Julia and Allison both! It's amazing. Both girls were wearing red turtlenecks and jeans and when we picked up the pictures of them it was just before Valentine's Day so the outfits fit perfectly. Both are moving into so many new adventures. Julia is the singer in our family Guitar Hero band. She does pretty well, better than mom as the drummer anyway. Allison has become very opinionated about things, but the poor girl can't quite articulate what she wants or needs. Instead she screams and points and throws her body around. She's learning more words everyday so that should help out in the matter. I think the most recent additions are the ones Grandma and Grandpa taught her..."stinky feet" and "no-no".

Merry Christmas!

We're a little late with this one, but it's a Christmas Classic. Allison loved Santa while we were waiting in line. She was "ho, ho, ho-"ing the whole time. But she felt a little differently when sitting on his lap. It's a good thing Julia was there to help keep things calm.

Florida Vacation

In January we spent 10 days in Florida. It was great to have a break from Wisconsin's winter weather. We spent 7 days at Disney World and another 3 around Orlando. It was definitely a great trip. The highlight for Julia was getting to meet so many characters. She had her picture taken and got an autograph from each one. By the end of the trip she had nearly 50 autographs! This photo was taken on our first day in the Magic Kingom. Right after this Julia got to wake up Tinkerbell. She got to do many special things like be a guest conductor of the Magic Kingdom railroad, ride in the driver's seat of the Monorail, participate on stage in a bird show and blow the horn three times on our Riverboat. We spent some time at the beach collecting shells and swimming, although it was rather cold in the ocean. It was much better to swim at the pools.

Allison turns ONE!

Allison's favorite part of her birthday was definitely the cake! She had her own little heart-shaped cake with cream frosting and pink sugar. She tenatively ate some frosting first, but then once she realized there was cake under there she dug in with both hands and pulled up fistfuls. She actually wasn't too messy with it. After the cake she had a lot to say; I think the sugar loosened her lips. Here are some of the words she can say, even though some of them are hard to distinguish:
  • mama
  • dada
  • grandma
  • grandpa
  • binky boo
  • peek a boo
  • night night
  • uh-oh
  • moo
  • duck
  • quack
  • baa
  • oink
  • kitty
  • meow
